Invisalign FAQ

How does Invisalign work?

A digital scan of your teeth is used to plan your treatment and make a series of aligners. Each set is worn for a week or two, gradually moving your teeth toward their planned positions.

How long will I wear aligners each day?

About 20 to 22 hours. Remove them only to eat, drink anything other than water, and brush and floss.

Will it affect my speech?

Some people have a slight lisp for the first day or two. It usually goes away quickly as your tongue adjusts.

Does it hurt?

You may feel pressure for a day or two when starting a new set of aligners. That's a sign they're working.

How often do I visit the office?

Typically every 6 to 10 weeks so we can check progress and give you your next aligners.

How do I clean my aligners?

Rinse them when you take them out and brush them gently with a soft toothbrush and cool water. Avoid hot water, which can warp them.

Is Invisalign covered by insurance?

If your plan includes orthodontic benefits, it often applies to Invisalign the same way it does to braces. We'll review your coverage with you. See Financial & Insurance.
